Systems Administrator

As a member of the Software Distribution team, you will be responsible for creating automated installation packages of various applications. Package creation will include working with business units to determine needs of automation as well as coding/building components that are not included in default application installs. Software Distribution, scheduling and execution. Thorough documentation is required throughout the package creation process.  You will also be responsible for maintaining the software packaging aspect of the Quality Assurance environment.  Adherence to change management processes is also required.

Responsible for installing, configuring and maintaining application system servers, including web servers, in support of business processing requirements. This is to include complete hardware build on through to the operating system and application installation/configuration and ongoing production maintenance of the systems.

Project task organization and follow through. Communication of standards and policies. Translation and communication of complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical personnel.  Advanced troubleshooting.  Standards refinement/input. Server troubleshooting. Coordinate vendor service. Technology research. Scripting and/or programming. SQL database manipulation and querying ability a plus.

Required Skills

• A minimum of five years working experience with Microsoft-based desktop operating systems.
• A bachelor's degree in computer science or the work experience equivalent.
• Ability to work without supervision.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work with all levels of staff and management.
• Strong verbal and written communications skills.
• Experience of 3-5 years with PC hardware and software configuration. 
• Good knowledge of supporting MS Windows domain architecture.
• Strong understanding of how Active Directory works within a Windows 2000/2003 server environment. 
• Experience working with Active Directory.
• Scripting and/or programming knowledge (VBScript and command/batch scripting) 3-5 years minimum experience of installing and configuring desktop technology. 
• Strong information security awareness.

Preferred Skills  
HP Client Automation (Novadigm or Radia) (or Micsoft SMS)
Experience with enterprise or remote support of Microsoft Windows 2000/XP workstations
VB Scripting experience
Knowledge of Windows Registry
SQL database manipulation and querying
Knowledge of MS patches and patch distribution (WSUS)
Windows Installer technology and creation
OS management imaging (WIM format or Ghost format)
Regular experience with application package creation tools (WISE, Thinstall, AdminStudio, Tivoli, WinINSTALL)
